Capricorn Moon Water is ideal for elevating structure, creating scaffolding for a deeper spiritual practice. In this photo, the small jars contain dissolving intentions for removing barriers. On the right, the moon water is infused with lemon to bring clarity.

Capricorn, symbolized by the fish-tailed goat, is ruled by Saturn, who is the structured realist, bringing wisdom, order and discipline. The illuminated Capricorn energy provides a sacred container in which we can find freedom. Consider the photos above, with Capricorn being the bottle and jars. Without those, the moon water and dissolving spell would have no structure. We need Capricorn. However, when Capricorn veers into shadow, it becomes restrictive, rigid, and dogmatic. This full moon is an ideal time to reflect on how Capricorn is working on, and though, you.

Hekate’s role as Enodia, which translates to “Of The Road,” referring to her importance both for everyday journeys and the deeper one of the soul, and her governance of crossroads, is an excellent epithet to explore in connection to Capricorn.

Capricorn is not an emotional sign. Ruled by the element of earth, it is about doing things rather than the last major moon, Cancer, that focused on feelings. Hesiod’s musings about Hekate, found in his Theogony, written almost 3,000 years ago reflects the qualities of Capricorn because it is descriptive, without flowy language or seeking her assistance.

The Astrology of This Moment

The precise time of the Capricorn Full Moon is July 10 at 4:36 PM Eastern, with the moon being in this sign from July 9 at 4:55 AM to July 11 at 7:45 PM. Anytime within this phase is great for working with Capricorn energy.

The big astrological deal this week, and for the coming months, is the conjunction of Saturn and Neptune in Aries. The asteroid Ceres (Demeter) is nearby, too, who'll undoubtedly bring about issues to do with the food supply, agriculture, and so on. I've talked about this before, but it bears repeating: when dreamy, idealistic Neptune is cohabiting with structured and realistic Saturn (who governs Capricorn, amping up this moon with a squared association), there's potential for "Clash of The Titans," energy.

The other equally big event that we'll be living with for seven years is Uranus in Gemini. Not to be an alarmist, but this configuration historically has been associated with great upheaval, and is one of the most discussed placements in astrology. The American Revolution, the American Civil War, and WW II all occurred when Uranus (planet of rebellion) was in Gemini (communication, technology, etc.). Look at the associations with the sign of Aries and the planet Mars, who govern unrest, war, and conflict. All this is tempered for at least a year with Jupiter in Cancer, though. Many astrologers are predicting global changes with all these configurations ramping up in 2026.

Of particular interest for us as Hekateans is that her asteroid remains in Scorpio for most of 2025. With the cosmic disruption turned up high, lean into the depths offered by Hekate in Scorpio.

Hekate and Capricorn

Epithets: Prothyraea, Gatekeeper; Stratelatis, Leader; Tartaroukhos, Ruler.

Meaning

Determined, traditional, and wise, Hekate’s role as gatekeeper over physical locations is connected to Capricorn. Concerned with middle world affairs, turn to Hekate in this sign for assistance with becoming the ruler over your personal realm.

Themes

Perhaps because the Capricorn new moon comes near the yearend, and that this sign is governed by Saturn, evocative of the ancient, this is a time when Hekate as The Crone often shows up.

Tradition and governance are concerns of Capricorn, presenting an opportunity for focusing on groups and covens.

Capricorn Working: Saying E”NO”dia

Capricorn knows how to say “NO,” to what doesn’t serve. For those of us who are over functioners, people pleasers, and so on, doing this can be a radical act. Lean into the spirit of Capricorn to say “NO,” to what blocks and binds you from a deeper practice and more attuned life. The Capricorn Full Moon occurs during the Month of Enodia in the coven. Here’s the simple-yet-powerful exercise we’ve found so helpful over the years. Enodia refers to Hekate’s guidance along our journey, meaning “Of The Road.”

Write E”NO”dia on your left palm, such as shown above. If you don’t have the green and red pens, underline the “NO” with what you have. Determine what you are saying “NO” to, from self-sabotage to putting up with others crap. See the word become a talisman, amplifying your intention.
